Flying Pig is the place to go for candies and treats of any kind. They have a dizzying selection of hard and soft candies, tea, pastries, shaved ice, and lots of other options. Their smoothies and milkshakes are especially good, and we recommend the chocolate and cherry shake. The staff is also super friendly, so if you have any questions about the menu don’t be shy to ask!
2. M&M Dari Ripple
This is an adorable little shop with a festive red white and blue exterior and lots of outdoor seating. Their menu includes lots of whimsical dessert names such as the “Dream Cone” and the “Tulip Sundae,” as well as all of the usual classic flavors. All the treats have a classic, homemade taste to them and the portion sizes are so generous that it’s a challenge to eat your sundae before it melts in the heat!
3. Northwoods Premium Confections
With an assortment of truffles, candies, fudge, popcorn, and frozen treats, there’s something for everyone at Northwoods. They serve lots of great rotating flavors of frozen treats, which are all deliciously creamy. The employees are very friendly and helpful and are always willing to chat for a while when the shop’s not too busy.
4. Dairyhaus
This is a great local shop that always has creative and fun flavors, such as Black Tie Cheesecake, Bourbon Praline, and Midnight Berry, so when you’re tired of the classic chocolate and vanilla they will definitely have you covered. The employees and owner are super passionate about their desserts and friendly to talk to. The shop itself has lots of seating space, so it’s a good place to meet up with friends or family for an afternoon treat.
5. Center St. Creamery
Located in the nearby town of Durand IL, Center St. is worth the drive to visit. In addition to frozen treats, it’s also a cafe that serves amazing coffee and baked goods, so no matter what you’re looking for you’ll find something delicious here. The shop is decorated with super adorable rustic decor and has the atmosphere of a cute little cottage.
