1. DBA Farmers Market

From May 6 on, the outdoor Downtown Beloit Farmers Market will run from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Whether you want to shop the freshest farm produce, baked goods, preserves, or crafts, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for from local businesses on Saturdays at 557 East Grand Avenue.

2. Fridays in the Park

Starting May 26, the popular weekly lunchtime concert series will be starting up again in downtown Beloit, at First National Bank Plaza at the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue. Come along on Fridays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm to make the most of the spring sunshine, sample the best from local restaurant vendors, and listen to live music. Lunch costs just $7 at this fantastic community event.

3. Community Fire and Drum Circle

For everyone from beginners to drumming masters, this event begins May 25 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm and will continue to be held throughout the summer. You’ll have the chance to enjoy those longer evenings by the fire with s’mores at Nature at the Confluence, and it’s absolutely free. Bring the whole family to while away the hours while listening to the beat of the drums.

4. Old Settlers Days Festival

If you’re looking for a party this spring, there’ll be one down the road in Rockton, IL from June 15 to 18. This fundraising festival is hosted by the Rockton Lions Club and features a carnival, 5k run, parade, local vendors, and live country music. It’s held on East Hawick Street, so get your tickets, pack the lawn chairs into the spacious trunk of your GMC Yukon XL, and come along to join the fun!

5. Nature at the Confluence

If you’re feeling the urge to reconnect with the natural world this spring, don’t forget to visit Nature at the Confluence, where Rock River meets Kelly Creek and Turtle Creek. There are 80 acres of prairie right next to the city, with trails and gardens to explore. And there’s always something going on, like the Squeeze the Day lunch walks at noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There’s also an opportunity to get involved with the Wednesday work days at 10:00 am, and a series of classes and talks about the world around us. Take a look at the event calendar, or just enjoy this little slice of creation whenever you get the chance.

As well as the sunshine and the longer evenings, springtime also gives you the chance to appreciate being part of such a thriving community, so make the most of Beloit! And while you’re out to see what’s on offer, don’t forget to visit us at Finley GMC to view our latest inventory.
