Split by the glittering Rock River waters and filled with 80 acres of pretty parkland, Beloit, WI is a very pleasant town to explore with your camera. Local photography enthusiasts can find plenty of terrific photo spots in and around town. Here are a few great places to begin.

Water Tower Park

One of the oldest landmarks in Beloit is an ancient, picturesque water tower to be found in Water Tower Park at 1002 White Avenue. Since 1889, this dramatic octagonal limestone tower has watched over the nearby communities. Sitting in a central position of the park’s pretty treelined landscape, the tower is perfect for any photographer who wants to capture a little of the town’s history.

Wright Museum of Art

This popular local visual arts gallery is also a part of the town’s heritage as it’s been open since 1892. It’s a wonderful hidden gem with plenty of attractive and thought-provoking exhibits to take pictures of.

The gallery has over 6,000 works of art in its collection, including impressive works of American Impressionism, German Expressionism, Modernist painters, and Japanese modern prints. It’s free to enter and you can take all the photos you like inside. You’ll find the gallery at 700 College Street.

Big Hill Park

If you’d prefer to take photos of stunning natural scenery, head to Big Hill Park, a wonderful riverside park in the north of town. This park is a fantastic place to hike with your camera, with many well-laid-out trails overlooking the glistening waters of Rock River below. You’ll find an abundance of breathtaking views as you climb the hill; perhaps the best view of all is from the lookout at the top.

The natural scenery here is beautiful to photograph in winter, spring, summer, and especially in fall with the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows of fall leaves surrounding you. The park can be found at 1201 Big Hill Ct. You can park your new 2023 GMC Terrain SLT near the park’s entrance and enjoy a picture-filled hike before returning and cooling down in your SUV’s blissful air conditioning.

Logan Museum of Anthropology

Another of the town’s architectural delights is this beautiful old building in the heart of Beloit that houses a treasure trove of artifacts including pottery, baskets, panels, weaves, textiles, artwork, sculptures, and more. The museum is packed with fascinating items to photograph as you learn about the rich history of humanity through the ages. The building itself, standing since 1869, is a fine sight to capture on camera. Visit the museum at 700 College Street.

Once you’ve filled up your camera with excellent pictures, visit Finley Buick GMC. We’ve been diligently serving the local community’s drivers with great cars and customer service since 1959.
